Fig Fruit

Fig fruits are bell- shaped With a wide flat bottom narrowing to a point top , when they ripen , they are vary in size and have varied colours as, green ,purple, yellow, black and brown.They are often dried for preservation, since the fresh fruit has highly perishable. The figs flowers develop inside the fruit and cannot be seen.Fig has three generation: The first generation contains the mail and insect- hosting flower, the second generation of flower is female one pollinated by insects ,coming out of the first generation. These insects fertilize the female flowers producing the main harvest of the fig tree.The third generation contains insect – hosting flowers where the insects spend the winter.



* Figs trees:


The origin of fig trees are in tropical climate in the Middle East , Asia and Eastern Europe , which have been widely cultivated from ancient times for their delicious fruits. The common figs trees are called " Inedible Figs" or ' Capri figs" in the Mediterranean region.


* Figs usages:


- they dried for preservation , jam and fresh fruit for eating.


- Figs are keystone species in rainforests areas, their fruits are the main meals for some frugivores , including fruit bats, capuchin monkeys and mangabeys. They are also important for some birds , as pigeon, hornbills , fig-parrot and bulbuls.


- The wood of figs trees is soft and it was used to make mummy caskates in Ancient Egypt.It is also used to produce Barkcloth in Uganda and its leaves- shaped are used for decoration in Comedian architecture.


- Common fig and Sycamore fig were bred for agriculture in the middle east for many years.


* Figs fruit are important for both food and medicine, contain Laxative Substances, Flavonoids , Sugars, Vitamins A& C , Acids and Enzymes .


* figs have also proved for their rich carbohydrates and different amount of calcium, magnesium, iron ,zinc and water to be beneficial for breastfeeding mothers and prevent chest diseases , menstrual disorder and removing warts ,healing injuries and different kind of ulcers. Muhammed(peace and mercy from Allah be upon him) the messenger of Allah (God) said" If I were tell you of fruit that has been sent from paradise, it would be the fig , fruits of paradise are without pits. Each fig as it is a cure from hermorrhoids and gouts.'
